Photos from a day bashing in Slovakia. I caught the 00.10 sleeper from Bratislava H.L. to Koisce, then the 07.40 Koisce to Ciera Nad Tisou, the 13.40 Ciera Nad Tisou to Koisce and finally the 16.02 Koisce to Bratislava H.L.

Ciera Nad Tisou is a backwater dump of a Hick Town near to the border with Ukraine. I was expecting a connecting train over into Ukraine to Chop, but there was no connection by rail, no bus and nobody to drive me over the border and I was unsure of the direction to hitch. Cierna Nad Tisou is a weird boring Town with little ammenities and nothing of interest apart from the Liberation of Prague murial at the Train Station and the huge hump shunting yard.

To travel to and from 'Gronk Aid' at the South Devon Railway, I spent two nights on the West Country Sleeper from Paddington to Penzance on the night of 6th November and Paddington to Par on the night of 7th November (that night was obscene in the fact that the 57 failed at Exeter, and two HST Power Cars were dispatched from Plymouth Laira to drag the ensemble West. In connection with me attending 'Gronk Aid' on the South Devon Railway I decided to go to Devon I would catch Cross Country to Birmingham, then catch the last loco hauled Virgin train from Birmingham New Street to London Euston, then cross London and catch the Sleeper from Paddington to the West Country. Unfortunatly the Cross Country train I caught got held up at Wakefield due to a broken down Freight Train blocking our platform at Westgate. I decided in that case to bail at Sheffield and catch a East Midlands HST from there to St Pancras, arriving in the Capital at the same time.

On 28/10/08 I incorporated a visit to Derby to see on of the Network Rail's 37's with a trip from Tame Park - Marylebone on Wrexham & Shropshire 67 hauled service and a trip on Virgin Trains loco hauled diagram from Euston to Birmingham

A trip to the Keighley & Worth Valley coinincided with a trip to the Keighley Bus Museum, which despite some of the wonderful vehicles there, it seemed more of a Garage than a Museum, but was still well worth a visit!

A visit to the Keighley & Worth Valley coincided with a free bus service being operated from Ingrow West to Keighley Bus Museum utilising a beautifully restored Halifax Daimler double decker.

During a 3 day Mini-Bash to Germany, I nipped over the border to Denmark. I spent about 20 minuites at the Fronter Station of Padborg, although most Loco's I snapped were German I was well impressed with the Armed Border Guards happilly allowing me to take photo's at what is a very important Freight and Passenger transit point between Germany and Denmark, one of the armed Guards even moved out of my way with a smile and a nod whilst I snapped some German and Danish freight loco's side by side, imagine that in the UK? My only regret is that I had to spend such a short time there, but I was on a mission to get back to Bremen in time for my flight back home!

In August 2008 I had a 'min-bash' travelling around various parts of Germany. I had my first taste of the Hellfire Class 218 locomotives used by DB and I was hooked!

I visited the West Somerset Railway for the first time for the Mixed Traffic Weekend on Sunday 14/06/08. I travelled by way of London on the evening of Saturday 13/06/08 and snapped a couple of 90's at Euston before heading for the Night Riveriera to Plymouth, took shots of HST's at Plymouth then headed to the WSR, to travel back on a horrid Voyager all the way back to York!

No visit to a Communist Country is complete without checking out their Military might, and on my first visit to The Peoples Republic of China I visited the PLA's Museum in Beijing. I will apologise for the poor quality of some of the pictures, this was due to the very poor lighting in every part of the Museum. The Museum is well worth a visit. The exhibts vary in condition and TLC and the size of exhibts range from small sculptures, propaganda posters to Large Concrete Socialist-Realism Murals, through Guns, Tanks, Missiles to Aeroplanes and even a Ship!
